Tina Louise

Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen was an athlete of natural talent and loved playing athletic games. Her inherent ability to perform was a perfect complement to her interest in sport. This was apparent when she received each Feis for drama and theater that Ireland had to offer. Maureen was a part of the Abbey Theater by age 14 which was where she explored her love of performing in classical and opera. Charles Laughton was mesmerized after watching the Maureen screen test. He was fascinated by her beautiful eyes. Laughton as well as his friend Erich Pommer changed Maureen FitzSimons names to "Maureen O'Hara" and shortened her name to be used on the marquee. Then, they cast her as an actress in Jamaica Inn, (1939). In contract with Laughton her next movie was scheduled to be shot on location in America (The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939)) through RKO Pictures. The film's epic scope had a huge success, and her contract was taken over outright from Laughton to RKO. Maureen was just 19 at the time she was starring alongside Laughton in two movies.
